Bayer launches transparency register on external research collaborations in Switzerland

Leverkusen / Zurich, February 7, 2024 - Bayer is launching the Bayer Science Collaboration Explorer (BSCE) transparency register in Switzerland today. In the public database, the company provides information on its scientific collaborations and new contracts with universities, public research institutions and individuals. The Explorer is part of Bayer's commitment to strengthen trust in scientific innovations, processes and research and development activities.

For each new contract-based scientific collaboration with a university, public research organization or individual, the following core information is published in the BSCE: name and location of the institution/individual, type of agreement (e.g. "research contract"), category of subject matter (e.g. "oncology" or "digital agriculture"), financial size, effective date, Bayer division involved.

Research companies such as Bayer regularly collaborate with scientific organizations to find suitable solutions to challenges in the health and agricultural sectors. However, such collaborations are sometimes viewed skeptically, especially company-funded partnerships. Bayer wants to promote trust in science by providing comprehensive transparency about its research collaborations.

The Explorer is one of Bayer's twelve transparency initiatives. In addition to the research collaborations, the public has access to information from various areas – from clinical studies to safety studies on Bayer's products in the crop protection sector or individual health to lobbying expenditures.
