Farmers’ livelihoods are increasingly challenged by changing climate conditions, limited natural resources, and growing societal demands. Together with farmers, we strive to advance agriculture towards a future that focuses on regeneration: enhancing soil health, conserving natural resources, and supporting sustainable farming practices for generations to come. This vision is embodied in the Bayer ForwardFarming Mission, a knowledge platform that encourages dialogue and showcases regenerative agriculture systems in practice, aiming for positive environmental outcomes while supporting productivity and farmer well-being.

On ForwardFarms around the world, farmers with value chain partners, academia, scientists, and civil society engage in meaningful dialogue and experience regenerative agriculture systems tailored to their specific crops, climate, and farm objectives.

Through the ForwardFarming network, Bayer collaborates with independent farmers to illustrate how a customized regenerative agriculture production system approach—integrating practices, tools, and inputs—can support successful farm operations while contributing to resilient farming systems.

Independent and ambitious, ForwardFarmers play a central role in tailoring regenerative agriculture approaches. They actively contribute to the improvement of regenerative approaches while simultaneously sharing their insights and experiences with fellow farmers, consumers, and stakeholders, helping build trust and understanding across the food system.

They share the belief that economic and ecological sustainability are inseparable in agriculture. By working to advance in regenerative production systems, they help future-proof their operations – preserving biodiversity, improving soil and water health, and producing enough high-quality food for a growing world.

Each ForwardFarm is treated as an individual ecosystem – unique in the crops it grows, the land it farms, and the community it serves. Yet all ForwardFarmers share a common commitment to advancing regenerative and modern agriculture.

Cultivating Outcomes through Regenerative Ecosystems

Regenerative agriculture is not one-size-fits-all. At each ForwardFarm, farmers work with Bayer experts to implement and improve systems tailored to their crops, soils, climate, and goals. These regenerative agriculture production systems are applied across multiple crops and seasons, and adapted to the specific needs and conditions of each farm. At the core are the elements that farmers build from: practices, tools, and inputs.

1. Practices that Regenerate - Sustainable methods adapted to the land
Farmers apply proven regenerative practices like crop rotation, reduced tillage, cover cropping, and site-specific nutrient strategies, adapted to their local context, to build healthier soils and improve long-term farm performance.

2. Tools that Guide - Decisions driven by insight and precision
Digital platforms, diagnostics, and decision-support tools provide insights that help farmers manage resources more efficiently and make smarter, data-informed decisions across seasons.

3. Inputs that Enable - High-performing solutions tailored to each farm
Seeds, traits, crop protection solutions, and biologicals form the foundation of the system. These are selected and combined to fit local conditions, drive productivity, and contribute to regenerative outcomes.
