Healthy Aging
With the demographic shift, today’s aging population is changing society’s concept of what it means to grow old. The number of people worldwide aged over 60 is projected to double to two billion by 2050. With our innovations, we strive to enable people from all age groups “to be and do what they value throughout their lives” while aging actively and healthily.
The world’s population is facing a demographic shift
In 2017, over 950 million people worldwide were aged 60 or older, and this figure is projected to double to two billion by 2050, according to the United Nations World Population Prospects report. Alongside this demographic shift, today’s aging population is redefining what it means to grow old. With average life expectancy steadily rising, industrialized nations face two significant challenges: managing the increased costs associated with extended long-term care and addressing the likelihood of spending more years in deteriorating health. As aging remains a relatively new societal phenomenon, there is a growing need to deepen our understanding of its implications on both global and local scales.
