Corporate Giving, Foundations & Volunteering 

As social inequality rises, many people still lack access to food and health care. Through our foundations, donations, and employee volunteering, we help create healthier lives and food security worldwide.

The commitment to science, society and the common good has a long tradition at Bayer. Friedrich Bayer Jr. established the company’s first donation and foundation programs already back in 1897. Nowadays, societal engagement at Bayer is created through different programs and entities:

  • Bayer’s Corporate Foundations: As separate legal philanthropic entities, Bayer Foundation, Bayer Fund and the Hans and Berthold Finkelstein Foundation generate impact for society, supported  through resources provided by Bayer. All foundations have different thematic and geographical focuses (see below).
  • In-Kind and Product donations are distributed to non-profit partners regularly, this can be healthcare products, seeds and crop protection
  • Disaster Relief: With our Disaster Relief, we support communities affected by natural disasters and public health crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Volunteering: Bayer employees worldwide volunteer their time and energy to social causes – Every employee has a minimum of one paid working day for volunteering causes guaranteed

Responding to disasters through humanitarian assistance also plays a crucial role in Bayer’s social commitment. With our Disaster Relief, we support communities affected by natural disasters and public health crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bayer Foundation, the Bayer Fund (United States) and the Hans and Berthold Finkelstein Foundation generate impact for society, supported  through resources provided by Bayer. All foundations have different thematic and geographical focuses:

  • Bayer Foundation: Science & Social Innovation Programs; Science programs with global outreach, Social Innovation programs only active in low- and middle income countries of Latin America, Asia & Africa
  • Bayer Fund: Food & Nutrition, Health & Wellness; Bayer Fund Focus its resources to solely serve communities in the United States
  • Hans and Berthold Finkelstein Foundation: Remembrance and Research projects that deal with the crimes of the Nazi era, in particular forced labor under the Nazis and I.G.Farben. Resilience programs for a corporate culture characterized by historical and ethical responsibility, contemporary leadership, and democratic action.
